Philippines are an island country in south-east Asia located on Pacific Ocean. Despite frequent typhoons and earthquakes, this is one of the most bio diverse places on Earth. The entire archipelago consists of 7107 islands that are divided into three main regions.
With the population count of around 100 million, Philippines are the 12th most populous country in the worlds. In addition to that, a big diaspora of 11 million Filipinos lives outside the country.
The country is ethnically and culturally diverse, having been influenced by Hindu, Muslim, and European culture over the course of history. After 16th century it became Spanish colony, but in late 19th century the USA took over the control of the territory. After World War II, Philippines regained independence.
